The other day I got a lovely packet of tea from BlendBee. BlendBee was started in 2013 by owner Jamah Dacus. If you haven’t heard of this website I recommend you check it out now by clicking here. The unique concept about BlendBee is that you can blend your own tea but for those who don’t fancy this they have their own blends too. What I really loved about this site was when I was blending my own tea I put in the comment section what I was trying to accomplish and I got some very helpful recommendations back! So if you are not sure what goes with what, don’t worry you’ll get a helping hand if you ask for it. Okay so now to taste it…
Om Sweet Om
This was a pre made yerba mate tea blend. This blend smelt pleasantly earthy and it tasted sweet. When drinking I could really taste the orange and licorice root. This tea really lived up to its name and I found it soothing and revitalizing.
This was my first own blend. I think this blend would taste good with a dash of milk too so I might try that at a later date. It had the nutty and sweet flavor I was going for and the suggestion of the Stevia by Jamah was a good choice!
Big Bang Berry
This was my second own blend and was probably my favorite out of my own two blends. I could really smell the hibiscus and taste the apple and strawberry. I found this green tea to be really refreshing.
I really loved the idea of blending you own tea, it’s something you don’t see a lot. BlendBee also uses very high quality and mostly organic ingredients and you can really tell. Don’t forget to visit the website!
Price: $18.98 for 2 oz
Ingredients: White tea, marigold blossoms, artificial flavoring
Brew time: 3-4 min
This tea is delicate white tea with a hint of floral and a sweet pineapple aftertaste. I love these blooming teas as it gives you a spectacle to watch as your tea is brewing in the pot. Make sure you brew in a glass teapot or you won’t get to appreciate it! It has a light refreshing taste and I love the smell of pineapple. As always the price of these Teavana teas are very high. You can use the same tea ball a couple of times to get the most out of your money. I would definitely buy this again!
This week I am reviewing three teas from ‘The Tea Spot’ located in Boulder, Colorado. Click here for there website. The wonderfully presented package they sent me came with Coconut Cabana (an Oolong based tea), Bolder Breakfast (a Black and Pu-erh based tea) and Bolder Blues (a Green based tea). They also sent me a postcard with a personalized message!
Ingredients: Oolong Tea, Shaved Coconut and Natural Coconut Extract
Brew Time: 2-4 min
When I opened this packet this blend smelt good enough to eat! The luscious coconut smells fills my nostrils and it’s like I’m drinking it already. As it’s brewing the longer you brew it the stronger the smell of coconut. I brewed mine for the maximum time so I got a strong scent. This tea is refreshing and exotic. The oolong tea makes it light and it has a clear and delicate flavor with no bitter after taste.
Ingredients: Green Tea, Mallow Flowers, Cornflowers, Strawberry & Rhubarb Flavoring
Brew Time: 2-3 min
This blend reminds me of Spring time, the flowers blooming around me and the strawberries ready to be picked. It smells deliciously of strawberries and rhubarb with a hint of flowery notes. When I brewed this tea the floral notes came out more and I kept on lifting the lid of my glass infuser to smell it again and again. This green tea is delicious and light with an exquisite flavor. I found when I drank it that the Mallow flower and Cornflower scent came first and then there was a sweet after taste.
Ingredients: Black Tea, Pu’erh Tea, Mallow Flowers and Dark Chocolate Flavoring
Brew Time: 4-5 min
The chocolate smell in this was fantastically overpowering which I adored because I love chocolate (who doesn’t?). This is an interesting tea as I found when I was drinking this tea it had a hint of chocolate but not so much that I would call this a dessert tea. The addition of the pu’erh lightened this tea so if you find black tea too strong this would be ideal for you. I had this without milk but you could add a dash of milk if you needed to.
Overall I would say Coconut Cabana was definitely my favorite! However, I enjoyed all three of these teas, the flavors were true to its ingredients and the smells were divine. The Tea Spot are true to its word and they really do provide freshly blended premium tea. Their full leaf signature blends are handcrafted in Boulder, Colorado. They promote fair labor, the health benefits of tea and donate 10% in sales to cancer and community wellness programs. They genuinely are a company to support!

So yet again I found myself in Teavana tasting the free samples they had out and just my luck they had their high quality Jasmine Silver Needle White Tea out. Whilst tasting this and talking to a sales agent I decided to be daring and try a white tea. After I said this the sales agent rushed off to the counter and took out a couple samples for me to smell and in the end I decided to purchase the Precious White Peach White Tea. The canister that held the leaves in store had a beautifully strong smell of peach and pineapple. So I went home and put the kettle on to try out my new tea! I was warned in store to make sure the water was at the right temperature so I busted out a thermometer and made sure that the temperature was exact. Finally to taste this tea! The taste is very different to black tea, it is light and delicate. This tea was already sweet but if you want to add sugar you are welcome to. When I let it brew longer the peach taste and smell grew stronger and I could detect more floral notes. I found it very refreshing and have been suggested that it tastes good iced so I will be trying that too. I very much enjoyed this tea and would probably buy again!
The other day after gorging on the free samples at Trader Joe’s I noticed this beautifully designed tea tin and thought I’d give it a go. I busted out my teapot when I got home and made myself a healthy serving of the loose leaf tea. Pouring out the tea I first noticed is that the lemongrass scent is more overpowering than the coconut. Tasting the tea had the same effect. This tea is very bitter and I couldn’t really taste the ginger either which is the reason why I wouldn’t purchase this product again. Also, if you’re hoping for a strong coconut taste then this tea probably isn’t for you either. Look out for my other reviews!

So this is my first review! Every now and then I will buy and try different tea blends for inspiration. Whilst passing Teavana I noticed the huge posters for Oprah Chai Tea and I thought I’d investigate. They had a sample brewing so I thought I’d give it a whirl. This chai has a lot of kick compared to others I have tried and I absolutely loved it. So I strolled to the counter to purchase a couple ounces… wow, this tea is expensive! However, a portion of this ridiculous price is going towards charities so I guess I can’t complain too much. So, if you like spicy chai tea (like me) then you’ll love this bold beautifully smelling chai. The rooibos blended with black tea and the addition of carob pieces and chicory root really adds to the flavor.
